Product Summary

The MDL-002 is a miniaturized optical delay line optimized for OEM applications. Equipped with a high precision DC motor and an encoder, this device can provide continuous optical delay up to 560 ps, with an impressive encoder resolution of less than 0.3 µm (or 1 fs), and an extremely low backlash of less than 8 fs. In addition, its advanced motion design guarantees longevity for long-term continuous operation. With a height and width of only 0.7"x1.46", the device can be conveniently integrated into test instruments and medical and telecommunication equipment for precision optical path length control or timing alignment. Unlike the integrated lab version of our delay line (MDL-001), the MDL-002's optical delay head (MDL-002-M) can be detached from its electronic controller (MDL-001-C) for easy integration into customers' equipment. A user-designed control circuit may also be used to control the delay head. The delay line generally comes with single mode or PM fiber pigtails, although a free space version is also available.
