Product description

Fixed Differential Group Delay from General Photonics

General Photonics’ fixed differential group delay (DGD) artifacts eliminate the need for precise measurement of PM fiber lengths to add defined amounts of first order PMD to a system. DGD values of up to 45 ps are available in the standard size package. Larger DGD values are also available by special request.

Features of the Fixed Differential Group Delay

  • Large 1st order PMD up to 45 ps
  • Low insertion loss

Applications of the Fixed Differential Group Delay

  • PMD emulation
  • PMD compensation
  • TDM bit alignment

Specifications of the Fixed Differential Group Delay

  • Operating Wavelength: 1550 ± 50 nm
  • DGD Value1: 0 ps to 45 ps standard
  • DGD Calibration Accuracy: ± (1 fs + DGD x 0.5%)
  • 2nd Order PMD2: < 30 ps2
  • Insertion Loss (intrinsic): < 1 dB (0.8 dB typical)
  • PDL: < 0.2 dB
  • Return Loss: 55 dB
  • Operating Temperature: 0 to 70°C
  • Storage Temperature: -40 to 85 °C
  • Power Handling: > 300 mW
  • Fiber Type: SMF-28
  • Dimensions3: 4.25” (L) × 0.31” (W) × 0.31” (H)

Note: Values are referenced without connectors

1. DGD values cannot be continuously specified. Contact General Photonics for available values.

2. 2nd order PMD depends on DGD value.

3. Dimensions listed are for the standard package for DGD ? 45 ps. Package size may vary with DGD value.
