Variable combined attenuator Wheel


Most electronic cameras are too sensitive for direct illumination by a laser beam. A typical value for saturation is 10 µW/cm2. The addition of an optical attenuator is therefore essential for most of all beam analysis measurements.

The most commonly used attenuator module is the EAM-2. This module has 4 different filter wheels with 3 filters and one hole on each wheel. The EAM allows a discrete choice of 99 different attenuation values, covering an attenuation range from 10^10 to 0 (0 to 100 dB).

Filters are manufactured carefully according to detailed specifications with respect to transmission and material quality. They are mounted under a certain angle avoiding multiple and back reflections from the surface.
